Vision, Issues, & Values
I believe that it has been too long since District 67 has had the representation it deserves. District 67 is my district and I love the people, the businesses, and the homes in our community. I have so much invested personally in this part of Saint Paul and I am tired of no one representing my neighborhood the way we deserve to be represented; so, I am going to do something about it by running for office.
As a black immigrant to this great country from Liberia, Africa, I understand first hand many social issues that are facing our country today and respect the diversity of people groups that District 67 has. I also am invested and concerned about making sure that our economy in Saint Paul and in Minnesota thrives as I am self-employed and desire to see many job opportunities available to my neighbors as well as my children now and for future generations. This is important to me.
When I pledge to uphold the Constitution of the United States as well as the Minnesota State Constitution, I mean that with every fiber of my being. I have dedicated my adult life to studying these documents and searching for how they apply to the times of our generation as I believe they are timeless and are as relevant to us now as they were in 1776.
I believe in our Constitution. Every word of it. I have studied it for years and teach classes on it. I believe that every piece of legislation that passes should not contradict the Law of the Land.
I believe in unity through being American. As Americans and as Minnesotans, we can find common ground and unity through the heritage we have as American citizens. We will not find unity through the color of our skin, our gender, or our religious beliefs, but by remembering and integrating this American heritage and it’s values and implementing them into our personal values. Through this commonality, we can find solutions to the problems facing our society.
We are a Republic, ruled by law; not a Democracy, ruled by majority. This fact has been nearly erased from the minds of American citizens and is what makes our country and state so great! I desire to remind legislators about this truth and vow to uphold and defend this truth about our country.

About Alexander
I came to Minnesota from Liberia at the age of 8 after two years in a refugee camp and in the Ivory Coast. My home town, Monrovia, Liberia was taken over by civil war and we had to escape. I recall family members speaking of America and telling me it was the “land of opportunity” and “the streets are paved with gold.” Much to my disappointment that the streets were not actually paved with gold, I have not been disappointed in the opportunity America has afforded me and my family…
